Although I hate football, I have to admit that there is something very moving about 48,000 people singing You'll Never Walk Alone at full volume. It does stir the innards, so to speak.
We have a small, little game on Wednesday, so i've been told. Looks like it's the 'puter and mp3 player for me then

I've heard they have to sing loud to drown your music out Lizzie.

They will. I have a particular love for loud rock music
My argument is you wouldn't go to a classical concert and ask the orchestra to keep the noise down would you?
That's why I use the mp3 player. It's only me I deafen, not anyone else.
For the National Anthem, i'm with Billy Connolly. He believes that it should be sung to the theme tune from The Archers. It should perk it up a bit cos, frankly, it is a bit of a dirge.
