However, my girls are pets and eggs a lucky by-product. I love my chickens and didn't buy them for the eggs, I'd have bought egg machine hybrids if I wanted that. As it is, they are welcome to freeload and amuse the neighbours and I for as long as they live (the last lot made it to 10 years)and if I never have another egg then so be it. No different to my cats really...
