Can O Worms Disaster?

...a quick bit of advice on teabags. I squeeze mine in my fist to get as much mositure out as possible. I then rip them open before putting them in the COW. That way the worms can get straight in without waiting for the paper to disintegrate.

...and also... when I have time, I whizz food up in a blender for a few seconds. Again it speeds things up because large items of food take ages to break down, where us pulp can be started on almost immediately. Fast eating worms = bigger worms = more food eaten... ad infinitum... Some might say that using electricty defeats the object of composting, but I feel it's better than putting surplus in landfill.

Neil, I've taken your advice and ripped open my teabags, and I'm delighted to report that my babies have actually started to eat the food scraps :D
I've also managed to secure some more worms courtesy of a lady on Freecycle (what a great concept that is!) so my population will be swelled considerably this evening!
I never thought I would get so tickled about wiggly wigglers!
