I also was taught Imperial measurements, and had to swop to metric mid school.

What is interesting is that everyone I have come across in the last 22 years as a midwife, (with the exception of those born in Europe) wants to know their baby's weight in pounds. We always weigh them in kilos, and get blank looks (or 'What's that in English!) until we convert the weight into pounds and ounces!

This phenomena also applies to those who have never been taught imperial measurements in school. Considering I was taught both, a baby's weight is the only thing I can judge with any degree of accuracy in metric; everything else I 'think' in Imperial!
