I HATE to put 'a damper' on the subject, but we ARE talking about amazing things that we've seen....

PLEASE, anyone squeamish, don't read this, I promise you won't like it....

We have a cat, that's 'a mouser'....

I recently picked the ripe Cape Gooseberries off the plants I've got growing in very large tubs outside the 'Grown-Up-Girls-Greenhouse' and, as I'm collecting 'enough' of them to make something with, or freeze, I'd been storing them in a tray in our conservatory.

Well.... I happened upon the tray of capes, and my eyes suddenly got fixed on something that just made my jaw drop to the floor....
In amongst the cape goosegogs were three dead, but newly born mice.
OH YUK !

Needless to say, the fruit got chucked out, and the tray disinfected.
And for that matter, so did my cat....

My most amazing sight this year was probably the first edible veg appearing in my garden - I was amazed that anything had grown!

I think I saw a Golden Eagle in remote part of Sctoland - it was impressive whatever it was!

Herby, I always enjoy that drive through Woburn that takes you through the deer park - beautiful

Think 1994 was my year for seeing amazing things. Saw dolphins and a basking shark on the same day whilst climbing at Bosigran in Cornwall - fantastic.
Have also seen Brocken Spectres (huge shadows of oneself cast onto a cloud inversion, you can only see your own) 3 times in Snowdonia. That's quite something as it's said to be a once in a lifetime experience.

I remember many years ago sailing out of Poole in Dorset and the dolphins (porpoises?)racing alongside us for a good half hour. They were amazing.

Gosh Zena, thats getting a bit close, thats only about one and a half miles from my humble abode, as the crow flies. That means all that was between us was Woburn Abbey itself.

Last year was amazing for us too wildlife wise - we saw dolphins & leaping salmon in Scotland. Choughs and badgers (live for the first time) in Cornwall and then I heard my first wild owl call in November in East Sussex - every one of them felt special in some way and the memories will be treasured!

We've seen seals & dolphins in Scotland this year and lots of pheasant on a stag hunt in Somerset.

We haven't had any cat casualties since we moved house but roll on next year....

You're safe Herby - I don't get out that way very often!
