Squirrel Pie!

The big gray tree squirrels taste great in a meat pie. Especially along with homegrown potatoes & carrots. We have tons of them plus cotton tail rabbits. The deer are the worst however.

I wholeheartedly agree!
They're a bit more fiddley than a rabbit but they are sweet and tender and spledid fayre for the BBQ months. Ready made kebabs!
Marinade for an hour or so in Lemon juice, Olive oil and rosemary. Then BBQ or grill. Chew off all the meat. You'll need one or two per person as there's not much meat.
For the full irony, serve with all the veg it would have eaten!
If the thought turns your stomach, think of the squirrels diet! Its far better than ANY shop bought chicken!
Delicious.

Providing you are the landowner or have the landowners written permission an air rifle in the right hands will dispatch a squirrel providing its a grey. Me and a freind have two squirrel shooting trips a year which will coincide with a barbecue.Yum.

I'm mystified at all the comments on squirrels eating vegetables because virtually our whole garden, apart from the lawn has vegetables growing in it and I have never once seen any of our visiting squirrels nibbling away at any of them, neither have I seen the any of the wood pigeons helping themselves to my greenery.
Whether this is because we have several peanut cages hanging on our fences, where squirrels and birds come to feed, or because the bird table is constantly topped up with a variety of bird food I don't know. Perhaps they just go for the easy food options but it certainly leaves the crops unplundered.

So how far is your place from Cardiff and how do the squirrels get from Cardiff to your place?
