The allotments are drying out really well now, so able to make good progress with all the Winter digging….infact, I was over there at 7.15 am this morning, just light enough to start digging….a beautiful sunrise, a few birds singing and magically still.

I was back to the digging today in the home vegetable garden...catching up a few errant corners, working in safety shoes no need for the yellow wellies, nicely dry. Loads more still to catch up..

Yellowstone carrots from under vegimesh formed part of lunch, other elements courtesy of Co-op and BirdsEye...

The ground at work that has been dug should go down a treat with the run of frosty days that we have had, many more than some recent years. Lovely sunny today but white frost persisted still after lunch on the lawn in shade of a hedge.

One day recently I quoted as..nil weather.. no sun, no wind, no wet, no dry, 3C all day...so it's been good to see the sun again.

We have rain forecast for 8pm and then back to mighty windy overnight...

Evening Clive, glad all is gong well on the digging front! Doesn’t a sunny day make it so much nicer on the gardening front….a real pleasure working on the allotments today.

Absolutely hosed it down last night around 11pm, back to muddy pawprints in the kitchen after last doggy wee-break before bed.

Nothing here on the western edge of Herts. Possibly some rain ten miles further east.

We had rain rattling on the windows last night and did it blow in the night.!..from 1am to 3am, could really feel it hitting the front of the house.
No sign of any wet on the ground this morning any rain and more had blown away and the winds during the day have been perishing, lovely out of them in the sunshine...and a bit more digging done :)

That’s frustrating for you Peter, but it looks as if we should be getting some more dry weather, so hopefully you will too…

Started digging early this morning, and now have 3 allotments dug….something I didn’t think was going to happen, when I was laid up over Christmas, with a very bad hip/back….so one left. :)

January is very variable for rain, hope we don't get February fill dyke to make up for it

2016 196mm
2017 63mm
2018 116mm
2019 42mm
2020 152mm
2021 199mm
2022 78mm

Back to lime I mentioned above. Found limestone dust at £2.70 a bag, anybody know how it compares with lime?

Why did the jay and the goldfinch visit our garden today instead of during Birdwatch weekend ? I want my money back !!
Little perishers do this vanishing trick every year!
