United fan who escaped from Urmston over 40 years ago. Carol is the only gardener left on the programme but I don't blame the presenters, they are just taking the money it's production team we should be sticking pins in.

Where's the time zone setting again? My posts are out by an hour.

Go into your profile Geoff, your time zone stuff is at the bottom.

Carol Klein has driven me mad for the past year or so and really made my teeth grate, and then the Piglets, Tigger and I all met her at Ryton Potato Day and she's lovely. Now I enjoy watching her, I don't know what's changed 'cos her voice and heavy emphasis on words is still the same. :?

Hi,
For your own reasons you may not like Carol but there is one thing about her and that is that you will never get bum advice form her.
I have known Carol for a number of years and ok she might annoy you but she is a very natural person.
She is a very qualified lass who is able to do everything that she talks about and could do it totally unscripted which is more than can be said about the total fraud who presents the programme.

For those interested her nursery is very very good:

Glebe Cottage Plants
Pixie Lane, Warkleigh, Umberleigh, Devon, EX37 9DH
Telephone: No.
Fax: 01769 540544
Location: Deep in the Devon lanes on the B3226, ten miles south east of Barnstaple, six miles south west of South Molton and one mile north of Chittlehamholt.
Opening: 10am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

I have been a number of times and my father rates her and her plants very highly. Mainly unusual perennials.

Hi Jerry,
Carol Klein has got her rightful position from her sheer determination and real hard work.
The dirt on her hands is real and is not provided by the BBC make-up department.

I have no doubt she is a fantastic gardener
She just riles me
Maybe I need to meet her like Chantal?
My opinion/feelings could be swayed :?

Hi Jopsy,
I know how you feel there are some people that for some unknown reason get up your 'left nostril'
(why not the right one I have no idea)I feel the same about the present presenter and I wouldn't even consider tuning into the programme let alone watch it. If you met Carol, nice girl as you are, you would instantly like her I feel sure.

Jonhboy, just wondered if you have had a good chat with the present presenter, you never know you might end up liking him.
Either that, or it would be pistols at dawn

Kind regards Old Herbaceous.

Theres no fools like them old fools.

I haven't watched it for regularly since the days of Geof Hamilton. Monty Don gets so far up my nostril that it reminds me of the time I got a moth ball stuck up there  when I was a kid, horrid  *. I admit a lot of it is envy, I would love space to have my own coppice of hazels and an old-fashioned wood-fired bread oven to play with. But really it is that I feel condescended to. There are posters on here who have masses more space than me, but somehow I am not jealous in the same way. Maybe because you are generally nice people  :)

*(How? well I like the smell of mothballs. And paperwhite too, don't smell like burnt rubber at all to me. But then I do like the smell of mothballs...)

My OH started life in Wythenshaw, then they moved up in the world to Urmston  . His dad built a lot of Wythenshaw hospital as a brickie before becoming one of the early environmental health inspectors. And the poor man has been living in Sheffield for the last 15 years (my OH that is).

The perfect gardening programme - Carol Klein for the flowers, someone from KG for the veg and a random 5 year old for some fresh design ideas.

Hi Jopsy

Looks like the consensus is that Carol is authentic and a great asset to the TV. She is certainly the best presenter from my own perspective. As for the others playing happy families every Friday ... the best I can say is that Gardener's World has become a victim of over production. Time for a new main presenter and producer I think.
