Autumn is starting to colour our valley. Chilly last night at 3.3°C, bet it was cool in the balloon but the view must have been good.

You live in a lovely place Geoff. How nice to look out and see a natural landscape instead of lots of buildings! Possibly has its downsides if you're cut off from facilities by snowfalls in winter, but lots of positives from the natural environment viewpoint and I guess autumn has a beauty of its own.

Primrose,you are going to confuse us yorkshire puddings, i think we put our clocks back in the autumn. LOL.

Lovely picture, Geoff! We had the first frost on the car and greenhouse roof this morning though the thermometer minimum showed 4C. I bet the nasturtiums at the bottom of the allotment have been frosted now because that is a frost pocket.

I don't know why I always seem to get this one wrong. Maybe I should just go ahead and do my own little thing in my own little world!
I hate it when the clocks move backwards or forwards. It always seems to cause disruption in our house with all the various electrical timer devices which need altering! Because it's only done twice a year we can never remember how you do it!

If you switch to talking American then it becomes easy.

Not everyone is that lucky OH, twice a year up and down the UK National Trust workers and volunteers have to work against the clock to get all the stone circles re-aligned before sunrise.

One year, I think it was millennium year, they moved one circle the wrong way and had to adjust them twice in one night

Same here up north twice a year I have to move sun dial, big bugger it is ,it's not easy at one o'clock in the morning when yer candle keeps blowing out

Well, as the champion marrow grower, OH would say that !

We don't get an extra hour of daylight. I hate the shortening afternoons and the hens still want their breakfast and letting out when it's daylight whatever time it is. Sorry if I sound cross, it's only 4 pm and I'm already starving hungry might have some crisps☺. It could also be because I've just finished cleaning the outside of the greenhouse with algicide and my arms have sized up. It's the only time I wish I'd got a smaller greenhouse. 25 ft x 13 ft x 11 ft is a bit challenging. I've got the inside to do now and the greenhouse at the top of the garden at least that is a lot smaller.

Just dug up my first parsnip of the year. . Too late for the “Ugly” section at horticultural shows but might have a fair chance in the Ten Legged tango competition. Just hope the rest of them arn’t similar. As a point of interest all this year’s parsnips are from self sown seeds from previous year’s plants so somewhat of an experiment! .
It won’t be wasted though and will find a home in soup or chopped roasted vegs.
