A very imaginative thread Captian, or are you now Magor ? Either way you keep a tidy ship. Or, as they say or used to say, "Shipshape and Bristol fashion".
Presumably you didn't take Christmas leave ?

How are you supposed to start and maintain a healthy lifestyle if it completely removes a wine lover’s reason to live?

Richard
I have taken far too much leave over the last few months hence the fact I have a battalion of cling on weed to deal with.
I will steer the ship and Mrs S will deal with the bristols fashion
As stated earlier, on boxing day (26th Dec) I sowed the 'Exhibition' onion seed and noticed two days ago on the 5th Jan that they were germinating
Just peeking through in places. Taken 5-1-17
Pa Snip Log seven one twenty seventeen
Visit to plot for sole purpose of digging up and removing what I thought would be just a few remaining parsnips
D T Brown Pinnacle were sown direct 14 -4 -16 and this picture was taken 2-6-16
Taken completely by surprise when I got past 6 and they just kept coming.
35lbs of Parsnip later.
We have already eaten just over 15lb from this bed and they have been really tasty.
Without doubt the best shaped and sized parsnips we have ever grown.
Damn nuisance that its not in D T Brown catalogue this year. Believe it to be under Mr Fothergill brand this year.

I must find things to do with parsnips, I rarely eat them because she won't, though that's not a good excuse.
Last time I used parsnips artistically it was a terrine with carrots and something else. I did do Parmesan baked parsnip for dinner at Christmas. They would have been nice if I had cooked them correctly.

Hi Richard - I didn't get the dumpy carrots although I have grown them before but found them not that useful, but did look cute in the beef stew, but useless for salads.
I made some Parsnip & ginger soup I found on the net somewhere. Was nice actually, the ginger took away the sweetness & left a bit of warmth. Will grate more ginger in it next time I make it but only have about 10 parsnips left & I don't think some of the ones on the end of the bed are going to be very big!

Pa you'll be so distracted by your missing compost to worry about your parsnips!

They are ok chopped up though I can't quite see the point in growing them, taste was ok. Maybe good for shallow stony soil. They do pull out easy.
The Nantes I grew in another row are so long compared to the ones I grew in previous years that I need to fork them out.

Picked up odd messages involving carrots.
Crew to remain alert to repel possible boarders of carrot fly.
Despite cold damp weather the white fly invasion has still not been fully repelled.
Was amazed at numbers disturbed on sprouts.
Routine Pa Snip Enterprise Log returns as soon as weather permits a return to the plot
