Just to give you something to compare with, I have just rung the nursery I use for seed potatoes.

She informs me that she is not aware of any supply problems with Romano and that stock will be arriving either next week or the week after.
She is not able to confirm prices for me yet but reckons there should not be a lot of difference to last years prices, if any..
My records show that as being £1.65 per kg

Today I finally got the seed sown for our prospective show onions.

One week later than I hoped but that was just down to me not getting myself into action.

Two varieties sown, (this being only my second year at attempting entering the bigger onion class)
Robinsons Mammoth Improved (about 100 sown) cost £4 per 100.
Suttons Bedfordshire Champion ( about 50 sown) cost £1.75 per 250

They are now in heated propagators in the, as yet unheated, greenhouse

Local horticultural show is in September so optimism on my part

I used to use Kays Horticultural all the time and still have lots of their products:- bottomless pots, heavy duty deep 48 section seed trays and a few 8ft garden canes. Pity they went bust or did they get taken over?

The Elixir Garden Supplies business is in Morecambe and they let me collect some stuff once. Chatting to them they took the business over from Kays.

Thanks Geoff, I'll look them up. Pity I'm not a bit nearer to Morecambe.
I've still got some of their special fertiliser mixes. Do you remember those, sent in a plastic bag with the NPK numbers felt tipped on. That's why I've still got them, I can't remember what they're for. Don't suppose it really matters, I might just add them to the compost heap to use them up.
