Your book list sounds interesting reading. Nice to see Geoff Hamilton being mentioned regularly so far, I think that reflects the esteem he was held in

Not specifically a gardening book, but in the days of my youth I enjoyed John Seymour's Self Sufficiency book because I had this daydream of a plot of land and living the Good Life. With a husband who loathes gardening though, it never advanced beyond the daydream, and to be honest, I don't think in real life I would ever have been able even to bring myself to wring a chicken's neck !

So I stick to growing vegetables and pacify my conscience by only buying free range eggs!

Any books by Lawrence D Hills, A G L Hellyer or W E Shewell-Cooper.
