The roof is rattling, rain is horizontal, something just went flying past and I'm glad my broad beans are a little late because I haven't staked them with a support structure yet.

I just went out to see if I could rescue whatever it was that was airborne, it's too late and I could barely stand up the wind is so strong.

Farmer left it a bit late to get his baled corn-stalks in, they were stacking it in the barns with drizzle outside this morning.

Forecasted gust speeds are 55 knots (60 MPH) but it isn't that windy, probably 30 knots.

Vicious here, too, and sooo cold for June - at least we don't have hovering Red Kites!

Autumn seems early this year.

the heating came on this morning. what the heck??

I'm also using the heating today and yesterday evening, I thought it was me getting old but my age-UK wall thermometer said, "Turn up your heating".

Also I'm still wearing pyjama bottoms under my work-pants and mostly winter padded jackets during the day unless I'm in a sheltered corner. The wind has been cold for weeks.

Garlic is looking good and to my amazement my Pink-Fir-Apple spuds are looking good. Some curly kale looks good, most other stuff is sulking.

Still using central,heating here. Goes against the grain for June.

Is anybody else else having problems with their onions going to seed already? . My white ones still ok at the moment but almost every morning when. i inspect them I find a few.more seed heads appearing on the red ones. Is it worth leaving them in the soil to try and grow on or should I simply just pull the affected ones out now? What do the rest of you do when this happens?. They have practically no bulb at all on them.

Tad breezy down south here today. Will venture down the allotment tomorrow to check the damage but have just sorted out the garden. Both the olive & the fig were blown over in their pots (& they are big plants), the iris's are all at an angle along with the obelisk but the sweet peas & clemetis seem undamaged.

Fingers crossed for lottie, just hope the environmesh hasn't blown off the brassica's but it it has hopefully I'll beat the pigeons!

Ive had a few red onions throwing seeds heads up ,i just pull them off and hope they carry on growing, the wren that was nesting in my strawberry barrel has had her young one's fledge but the blue tits are still working hard feeding the chicks

Dear Primrose, if you snap the seed head out, the onions will keep growing.
It's just that they don't keep, so start using them first as soon as they reach a useable size.

Me and Old Codger, always buy heat treated red onion sets and very rarely get one go to seed, so money well spent.

Another plot holder has white onions growing, and at least half of these have gone to seed. I think it is the hugely varying temperatures that is causing this....

Lucky it has warmed up, or as Pa Snip mentioned, there could have been an Autumn bits and bobs, arriving.

It's like coming out of hibernation today, really quite pleasant to be outside.

Just had an upsetting job to do for a good friend, i had to bury her much loved cat.....i do find it quite emotional.

As is usual for us I overwintered Senshyu Yellow onions, planted as sets back around last October.
Worst ever years growth from sets, inconsistent sizes and been running to seed already. Pinched seed pods off but this whole batch looks as if it is going to have to be used up and will be no good for storing.

Red Electric a little better !!

Most promising looking are the two batches of shallots also from sets.

Very upsetting, we can become so attached to our pets and them to us.

OH. I'm still crying on a weekly basis after I lost Molly and the vision of Bryan the digger-man crying as he lowered her into the grave he had just dug with a JCB makes me cry. Bryan didn't even charge me after leaving a job 30 minutes drive and he just stopped what he was doing to help me bury my dog.

In fact I'm flooding as I type this, I accept that I'm more sensitive/emotional than most people but I can't help my feelings and memories.
