Must keep an eye open for him - well maybe half an eye.

But what's the point of standing there? Up the village I've half an acre of grass and 100 yards of hedge in sore need of cutting.

I would like to think my positive contribution will help you Alan.

I had both eyes fixed a few years back, a combination of retinal-detachment and cataract. Both eyes were first lazer treated to deal with the retinas then my lenses were replaced.

The recovery period was scary and uncertain.

Right now I can drive without specs and read without specs though specs help both if I need to read number-plates on the moon or see through ladies blouses.

Seriously though, what a fabulous result for me ten years ago so things will have improved for you.

lordy!!

all the best with your op Alan, my Grandmother, who was 85 at the time, had her cataracts done, she no longer needed glasses, and I could hardly recognise her, as she had worn them all my life (over 35 years at the time) This was 10 years ago or so as well.

Bit risky, Eh ?

It's what friends and family said about me, all my life I wore specs then so I could continue sporting activity I wore contact lenses under specs just to get the correction.

Alan, if it were possible for me to inject feverish excitement in your direction I'd give it a try though I have enough memories of 'being scared' taking over that I have to respect whatever is going-on in your head right now.

Such a massive improvement in my life and my future is hard to describe unless you're a poet, an actor or otherwise skilled with our language.

Thanks again everyone

First op's Thursday afternoon so I am expecting to see through ladies blouses by the weekend

I did surprise myself yesterday morning by tying strings on my 26 tomato plants - mostly by feel.
With luck I should stop getting posts like this
but please wait a while before you post like this!

I hope everything is going well Alan. I'm going for my pre-op assessment next week so should have my first cataract fixed next month.

Thanks all again.
Went brilliantly.
Very clear vision, though not balanced with the other eye, which should be done in another eight weeks.
Hope all goes well for you Plumpudding.
