I hide behind the having of pets to avoid the tuts & Oh Dears when I say we don't put up the tree. It is legit as the cat burnt its mouth chewing the lead to the lights one year & the dog trod on a broken ornament, both resulting in a vet trip.

Truth is I'm a bit bah humbug & can't see the point without children to enjoy the whole magic of Xmas!

Good one Westie!
I put less decorations up every year, bowing to tradition and faffing around with stuff, rather than because we both like it. This year, I said I won't bother with even our small fibre optic tree and my husband said "Good".

Sorted!!

I gave up trying to fit a tree in, if I have to seat up 11 for dinner there's simply no room! Have you seen those enormous rooms on adverts with amazingly large sofas, huge dining tables and a tree? Well, I don't live in one of those!

I bought a trestle table a few years back and if we move the two easy chairs out to the side of the room the trestle goes down the middle with 5 chairs each side and youngest son up the end under the window sitting on a coffer... as long as he has roast spuds he's happy. :D

Dear Motherwoman, now that's a good idea :) ..... but i might struggle to keep in on at the moment, as it's very windy out there, infact, when i took the ashpan out at 5am this morning, there was a massive gust and it blew all over me and back into the kitchen....quite funny now. :)

All the shopping is done (Tescos really did themselves proud with a beautifully organised store at a VERY busy time), cards are distributed and the lights are twinkling........ Only the sprouts, parsnips, leeks and kale to pick on the allotment tomorrow when, hopefully, the rain and strong winds have stopped.

Have a lovely time, everybody!

Hope the weather is good for your Christmas veg harvesting on Christmas Eve, we didn't have any rain down here today so got ours done this afternoon.

As Mrs Snip is slightly incapacitated at present I got out reasonably early to do some normal shopping today, drove straight in and parked no problem. By time I found everything, paid and got back to car had to queue to get out !!! of Asda car park. Was almost like a circular gridlock with queues up two roads of cars trying to get in.

Merry Christmas to all, especially to the regular contributors on the forums.

Just been and picked up the Turkey, well, Turkey breast this year. We always send my Mum and Cooks Mum and Dad home with some, so we thought that would make it easier. No one rears them in the village anymore, so it came from a farm in the next village. i have known the whole family since i was a lad, so not all is lost.

I'm off to pick up a tipping farm trailer in a while, and just hoping i don't get stuck in the field with it...

We've got rolled rib of beef and some smoked collar bacon. Himself is not fond of turkey but we still have chipolatas with bacon, stuffing balls and bread sauce or there would be a lynching in the kitchen.

Collar bacon is cooking as I write, cheese straws and other nibbly things to do next.

I like Christmas but I really look forward to Boxing day when I don't have to do anything for anybody. :D
