Evening oldherbaceous, I caved in at the end and paid his tab as well as the taxi fare.

Looks a smart job. Often thought of a tiller to finish off after digging - even on my light soil I find braking down the lumps the hardest part. Don't seem to be able to find that make on sale anywhere. How deep did it go?

Hi Geoff, the short answer is I don't know as it hasn't bottomed out yet, I suspect from some of my earlier stabs with the spade about a spit and a bit. But id does look as if it could go beyond that with the draft removed.

The field hasn't been worked for about 20 years and has become white grass and bramble, the area behind my garden being one of the main bramble patches.

The history behind the tiller is, Billy bought it new from the local agricultural supplier who had got it to hire out on contract, original cost about £1600.00 the firm (ag sup) was folding and Billy got it for £1200.00. this was about 3 or 4 years ago.
The work it did this morning was as near as dammit on tick-over. It is one of the quietest machines I've ever seen working, it features reverse tines as well as forward and reverse gears. but the nice thing about it is the diff lock, and the tines are quite meaty.
It would work away with very little guidance.

I may be wrong I think it is made for Yanmar, but has their engine fitted, if you google MRT6dx you should get some hits on spec.
I'm sure there are a number of machines on the market. perhaps not with all the features of this one but certainly capable, my Husqvarna, would have done the job if we still lived together.

Yanmar are decent engines you see them a lot in the marine environment

I saw that on the web page. I looked last night and I cannot find another make with the same sort of specification.
