freezing here this morning and lots of snow flurries, but nothing serious. I did not sow my french marigold seeds yesterday as I had intended (in the greenhoue) as they wouldn't do anything anyway! Hoping the 2 clematis in my back garden, which each have about 2 inches of new growth, aren't frosted like last year

Snow flurries here but nothing settling. Cold temperatures should ensure that the snowdrops & miniature daffodils now in flower will last longer. They don't seem to survive so long when the temperatures start to rise so every cloud has a silver lining.

It's laying here alright, dogs come in with a frosty top! There's a big hill behind my house with a monument on top, can't see either at the moment. The snow is fine and blowing sideways in a bitter wind that stings my face. Paths are starting to crunch with ice and I'm going to stoke up the wood range and stay in.

I'm sulking down here in Dorset - colder than a cold thing! Wind is whipping around - but got a timber framed house - no open fire for us!

Bitterly cold and lots of snow laying around after yesterday and last night. The road to Lydd, where my allotment is, is blocked with snow, so I couldn't go today anyway
This time last week it was 14 deg, rotovated the small plot, and cut all the grass around them. Winter is well and truly back down here.
Still, it can only get better can't it

Wall to wall sunshine all morning till about 3pm but has clouded over a little now. It was 24c in the greenhouse so I opened vents and it went down to 17c. The tunnel, with 2' mesh all round, got to 22c but was down to -4c during the night. Outside it was 4c this morning. We had a few snow flurries yesterday evening but no sign this morning and the roads were dry.
Regards, Gerry.

Only a few light flurries this afternoon here.
Managed to get some more digging done, though bitterly cold in the wind.

Much better here today. Even some sunshine. The wind has dropped considerably too. Walking along the seafront yesterday was bracing to say the least
Most of the snow has gone, I'm glad to say. Quite a few plot holders on our site planted all of their potatoes last week. Hope they survive this cold spell. I have a row in the polytunnel, but the others are still in the conservatory for a while longer

I depressed myself again watching the weather report - bit of rain - warming up; but back to colder conditions again the beginning of next week! (& I thought the summer was bad!)
Maybe the new Pope will have some influence - transfer all the bad weather to the Faulklands!

Sorry - couldn't resist!

took the mrs and granddaughter to lyme regis today... no wind , sea dead flat, lovely strolling along the sea front in the sunshine..... bastid seagull tried to nick the toasted teacake out my hand. later on sat on the sea wall eating fish and chips in the sunshine. but it looked a grey over towards portland. then as we got in the car about 2.30 we had a flurry of snowflakes... but not that cold. twas raining a bit when we got home.

Strange you writing about the weather on the Falklands, Westi: when one of our sons was stationed out there in the RAF some years ago, he said the weather and the terrain were just like to tops of the Pennines - bleak, windy and changeable.
