Bit of "wrong coloured" blood came out by a stitch this morning, didn't scab and reappeared a few times, so went to local Minor Injures Unit where a quantity appeared at the nurses prod and was pronounced to be pus get thee back to A&E.

Originally A&E didn't prescribe any antibiotics and their advice was the opposite of what a specialist wound nurse told me a couple of hours ago. They said remove the dressing after 24 hours and keep dry but uncovered. She said iodine impregnated gauze under gauze plaster, leave completely untouched, change dressing every 48 hours, and gave me antibiotics.

Same hospital but A&E reception had sent me to the Urgent Care Unit, as the yanks say, "go figure". :?

I'm surprised you didn't get antibiotics, we have just had one of the lads on lottie get out of hospital following a simple scratch from his rotavator when it was not going. (2 days in ITU!!)

AB's can cause problems but there is a time & a place for them especially with dirty soil injuries.

Ah well, the potato planting spring break saw nul points for planting. Finished it off with two days of working from home (the sofa) with my work laptop. At least IT as a profession lends itself to that.

Back in the office today, left at 05:45 to arrive at 06:50 on calm & relatively empty roads.

No result from Tuesday's swab yet & not happy so ended up seeing the GP Practices nurse at 16:30, left work as early as I arrived, she reckons the seepage is still infection, so I'm redressed and on a seven day course of antibiotics with return appointments this Wednesday & next Tuesday :roll: :? :D .

Grrrr, they really do NOT design dressings for the hirsute. :evil:

The iodine from the gauze dressing wicked along my leg hair under the plastic covered dressing (expensive plaster £2.30 each) and sabotaged its sticky. :evil: :evil: :evil:

Still leaking, five more days antibiotics, stitches still in, iodine gauze & meopore dressing on until it stops leaking. :(

Positive side, now realise in one way I was lucky. One inch down would have been ankle bone, one inch forward tendon & shinbone, one inch back would have been tendon & arteries. :?

Antibiotics finished.
Stitches out.
Dead bits & rubbish removed.
Wound not closed.
What do you do at work, explain desk job & commute.
No, you need to work from home if you possibly can and keep ankle higher than hips.
Dressing on, seaweed products....
To be redone every two days by nurse at GP practice.

State of mind, aaarrrrrrggggghhhhhhhh cabin-fever.

Finally allowed to expose the not entirely healed cut to the open (well household) air, covering it with a meopore dressing for work or play. Funnily enough its been rain that's prevented me doing much rather than the cut.

Now have, thanks to alginate plasters, a partially waxed leg. :?
