OH - Spoil sport

You don't want a skirt for your birthday then?

Dear Glallotments, i have been giving this a lot of thought this afternoon, and i'm afraid, spoil sport it's got to be.

I had a really nice Rhubarb crumble tonight, i did ask cook if it was a bought one, probably not the best thing to say!

In my other jottings tonight I forgot to mention that I retrieved a balloon with a ribbon and label today whilst down at our fields....

Last time I did that I received a book token from the Nottinghamshire Constabulary..having sent back the label and been the furthest finder.
.....it gave me a bit of fright when the envelope arrived back with the constabulary franking.

Today the label seemed to contain the launchers sincere wishes for their successful future....but no clue as to where it had come from....other than it was in good English...

Just a quick note for anyone fed up with my previous fussings about me not getting my Winter digging done.. ..

As of 10 minutes ago....it is now complete.

You could be led into thinking there is acres of it...there isn't..not at home anyway... but it does seem to have been problematical getting weather set fair to keep nibbling away at it this year...

...after a renew of some ties on a couple of fence side Plum trees the last square was turned over...

..so all done ...well, except a piece at the end of the Brussels Sprouts..and that will come in when they are finished and pulled up...

....still some more to complete at work though. ...

A little Sunday night question for you Clive, do you know what type of plane a "Maggie" is? i also think it might be known as the Magister in military circles!

I suppose it could be the Miles Magister of the late 1930s.. you'll find one up at Old Warden.


..but then there is the Fouga CM170 Magister jet trainer...

The Belgian? Air Force had one of the latter on the display circuit...and it sometimes routed via our nearby RAF base for fuel, I believe, before travelling a bit further.. Their party piece seemed to be transiting at low level....

One wisked across the garden one day whilst we were engaged in conversation with our lady boss....
I saw it coming with headlight blazing and just had time to exclaim and point..
.......FOUGA MAGISTER....as it sped over us.....

I often wonder how this was translated in conversation back up in the Big House ...

Maggie, was the nickname for the Miles 14A Hawk Trainer.

No i'm not getting into plane spotting, it was in a book called, "A soldier in Bedfordshire 1941-1942", that i'm reading at the moment.

All he seem's to have done so far is eat and read books.

A strange little question here. My cook has just started to trace her family tree, to her amazment there are a huge amount of them from up North, especially the Northumberland, Durham area. The surname is Daglish, just wondered if any of our Northern members have come across this surname before.

Looks as if they've been breeding like rats.

Hows Old Codger?

has he had his op yet? if so is he ok?

I was going to start a new topic on this soon. Poor Old Codger has lost a couple of dates for his operation already, then he was meant to be going in this Thursday, but popped round tonight to say it has been cancelled to March the 11th.

Must be so frustrating for him, keep building his hopes up like that, as well as it's pretty scarey stuff.
