A warm one today….dug a big bucketful of potatoes, late this afternoon and don’t mind admitting, it made me puff a little.

I was walking behind a Hayter Harrier 48....still a lot of grass growth...but today's warm might steady it...it has steadied me

Picked our first tomatoes, they seem to be ok after the white fly attack.

Some of the more boring bits today. It’s been sunny for a couple of days so the old metal and wooden table and chairs have had a bit more done to them. The wooden slats were removed and all sanded and painted now. Had some cuprinol taster pots lying around so used them. I’m getting a surprising amount of use out of them, a bee box and now a table top. It is all different colours though, so yellow, blue, and purple slats and one which has been painted with blackboard paint (had a small pot of that also). It’s not put together yet but does make me smile when I see it all bright shiny and ready to be used. To think we were going to take it down the tip. Wish I’d taken a before image.

The sign for the cottage also looked a bit tatty so it has been sanded, the lettering reblacked and 3 coats of varnish, only one coating on the front left to do. Hopefully it will last a few years before I need to do it again. I have to admit that painting and varnishing the lettering was very meditative and I really enjoyed it..

I love taking something old and past it’s best, and giving it a new lease of life….gives me a lot of pleasure!

Watered all the pots and containers at lunchtime but, just had to water them again, as it’s still very hot here…..bet the Runner beans over the allotment are sulking in the heat…

My computer key board committed suicide yesterday, just out of the blue it decided it didn't like some of the letters, mind it did well getting this far as a cheapie & did last longer than the one that came with the Mac! 7.30am this morning & a new key board delivered, now that is service as the old one died about 9pm. Icing on the cake was the instructions for setting it up wasn't in Chinese English!

Way, way hot today again, but didn't go near the plot, well technically I was near as at the supermarket! Arriving & shopping in there was pleasant but the heat blast when I came out was not, fortunately no ice-cream bought! I will be going down really early tomorrow to water but nought else, well unless a weed is begging for removal.

Another very hot day, made even hotter, as I was Summer pruning a huge Wisteria and the heat coming off the brickwork, was quite intense…..

It just went pear shaped

Doing a few jobs at home...when a C17 Globemaster went by earlier, thought it was for an air drop of some more green wheelie bins....

Stock of green bins filled.....maybe a little 'settling' will see some capacity re-appear...
I have found my leaking nearly empty pond...and whilst pulling away at some houttuynia under the rhododendron ponticum I'm sure I glimpsed Tim Smit in the distance....

Thankfully on this soil the rhodo' stays steady in its growth to about 6ft...houttuynia cordata is another matter...........

...and then the phone rang...."would I like some fish and chips dropping round later"...."yes, please."
