Thought i would leave this story until tonight, so hopefully you have all had your dinners.

I have had a slightly loose wisdom tooth for a couple of weeks, after biting on a slightly over-done piece of pork. Anyway, after doing the same thing on a very crispy roasty last night, that made it even worse, i made the decision i would try and get the tooth out myself. I started the battle at 10.30 last night, but at 2.00am this morning i still hadn't managed to twist, bend, lever or pull it out. I was on the limit of going into the barn to fetch some pliers, but i thought i would carry on a little longer. And at 2.30am i won the battle......
When i looked at the tooth, i could see why it didn't want to budge, it had two massive roots.

The funniest bit of the story though, is when i took cook a cup of tea up at 6.00am and told her what i had done Her response was to ask if i meant in a nightmare, when i told her for real, she looked slightly shocked.

Anyway, that's stopped it annoying me. :)
That's the first tooth i've ever had out, since my milk teeth.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Wow, at last an allotment day!
Dug one rod. :D
Cleared & tidied all pallets, weights, etc off second half of last year's squash patch, then took up, folded & stored with the pallets, the weed membrane.
Took my heeled in Allgold autumn raspberry canes from the greenhouse border and planted them out.
Went through the rest of the raspberries for last year's fruited canes.
Weeded the autumn dug patch intended for first earlies.
Weeded the small raised bed for salads.
Planted the 2' hawthorn I found in the raspberries.
Had a massive bonfire, back for tea at 20:30 and bath now ready. :D

PS. The bit I dug earlier this year is perfectly broken down by the cold weather, only difference from autumn dug is the absence of weeds.
Do not put off thanking people when they have helped you, as they may not be there to thank later.

I have been up at the allotment several times this past week. Lots of digging and hand weeding got done :) Today the undergardener joined me. :D
Today we spent time clearing out the shed, not only did it have too much c*%p in it but it needed cleaning (damp all of last summer, autumn and during the winter) and tidying. Took a big bag of rubbish away and could see the floor!
Planted lots of broad beans (The Sutton) next to those which I put inlast autumn (Super Aquadulce) which are growing quite nicely.
I watered the rhubarb (coming up well) and these beans.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Poor OH, Why didn't you go to the dentist? I hope you haven't got too sore a mouth.

Dear Plumpudding, that's the funny thing really, it didn't hurt before i pulled it out, only when i bit very hard and it twisted. And once it was out it didn't hurt in the least, it was just the extraction that was rather time consuming and a little painful. i am also amazed how quick the hole has healed, too. And i just have too much on this week to be going to the dentists, let alone paying for something i can do myself.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Shall I start again ?

Most of our indoors germinated plants tend towards leggy-ness though I get the feeling my chilli plants are just too leggy. Bizarre thing is that they have had our conservatory window and my lovely-lady frowns on me using the conservatory as a greenhouse.

How are you supposed to start and maintain a healthy lifestyle if it completely removes a wine lover’s reason to live?

It takes so long to even get them to that stage I would just pot them on deep, like is often recommended for Tomatoes, I think they will be fine. You could of course sow a few more as well to compare and report back!

Thanks Geoff, right, i'll sow all the remaining seeds and get them out of the warm airing cupboard into the light as soon as they show. Last years chilli plants got stuck (As in the photo) and I blamed first the compost, then my over-watering because I wasn't used to peat-free.

I still don't know why they stopped growing.

I'll be glad when I can get things into the greenhouses but for now I have everything germinating and/or growing on indoors and they're all a touch leggy but that's normal for me :) I'll just plant/repot a little deeper (except for the squash and cucumbers) as it's never harmed the seedlings in previous years ;)

first proper day at the plot yesterday for some time! we planted the early spuds, parsnip & leek seeds in a riased bed, moved a lot of strawberry runners from last year to a new bed, watered the garlic, which looks like it is growing for the first time this year and had a nice cup of tea. everything looks nice & tidy and ordered. won't last long, the bind weed & bitter cress will see to that :)

OH. glad your tooth came out OK and that the hole has closed up, last year my son was complaining of toothache he went to the Dr's as he thought he had an abscess only to be told that he'd had a mild stroke was sent to the hospital where he was kept for 4 days.

I think you were very brave, OH. Look after the wound, won't you - it could cause trouble.

The path to our allotment is still covered in snow but greatly reduced from a fortnight ago. But it's certainly still too cold to sow or plant anything. The easterly wind is vicious, straight off the moors even though it's lovely and warm in the greenhouse during the day!

Most of the fields are still rather brown but I think the grass is on the move ..... very slowly.
