Well i've been down my Mums this afternoon, and she was as touched by all your kindness, as much as me.

So thank you all.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

OH. I agree with Peters suggestion of planting a tree in memory of your auntie, we had a little tree planted in memory of my hubby 2 years ago at the Alrewas Memorial Aboratum and each time we go up we're amazed how much its grown.

Dear Bren, i'm going to plant an Early Rivers Plum over the allotment to remind me of her.
Every harvest will be extra special.

I also have some copper labels that i can stamp with her name on, so people will know for many years.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

I've been surprised this year at how stubbornly some trees are hanging onto their leaves. We've just returned from a few days in Eastbourne and were amazed to see that in a sheltered paved part of the town centre, many of the tree are still in full leaf. Also on the journey home this morning, many trees bordering the motorway still had leaves on.
Normally by this time in December trees, apart from some beech trees, they're totally stripped bare. Is this happening in other parts of the country?

Dear OH, I am so sorry to hear your sad news, but I think your memorial is a wonderful idea. You will certainly think of your auntie every spring and every harvest.

Warm wishes, Elle
Kind regards,

Elle

Belated condolences OH. It will be a particularly sad Christmas for your mum this year. But I think planting a tree is a lovely idea, especially one which either has beautiful flowers, fruits or berries. That way life in all its aspects continues to flourish for generations to come. I would much rather be remembered with a living tree than a block of granite in a churchyard.

Dear Elle and Primrose, thank you for your kindness.

I had the horrible job of going up to Wisbech, to the empty house Sunday, not something i want to go through again for a long time.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Yes, that's a distressing experience. Those of us who've had to clear out the homes of deceased loved ones will know that eerie sense of somebody's spirit still being there and it being an intrusion into their privacy, even though they are no longer there. You feel as if you're lingering half-way between a spirit world and the real one, and it's an uncomfortable experience.

Had a couple of hours on the allotment this morning.Started winter digging, ground a little heavy but turned over O.K. A row of fennel frosted by the recent weather but brassica's,carrots, parsnips and leeks appear to be alright, still have a row a potatoes to dig up-probably frosted and no good, still, good to get back digging again.
Regards snooky
