Mrs P, that's awful. I mean, I dread to count up how many i've smoked. It doesn't bear thinking about.

Anyway, how are you doing? Things going ok so far?

I'm back off them and am at the stage now where I can't walk behind anyone smoking cos it makes me want to gaff. Think i'm getting there. Must confess to having a small puff on a friends (not Grocks) and it made me want to be sick. My stomach tightend up and started turning.

I think that i'll be able to do it and stay off them. All the support of everyone on here has really helped so much. Fabulous.

Thanks chaps and chapesses you are all brilliant :P
Lots of love

Roses - that's how we'll smell - just like a rose garden. Since I found out how many I'd had and how much I spent in the last 2yrs 9mths, I am even more determined. Piglet then went on to tell me that I had spent £52,000 in my lifetime on fags! If only we had ALL decided at 13 NOT to smoke but saved up the money we would have spent and then bought a house or something at age 45. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I do have good days and bad days Lizzie. Today was a fairly difficult day. My neighbour told me that our local chemist is giving away a choice of patches, gum or those dreaded pencil cigarettes that Grock chews for those who want to stop smoking. Since I have made my mouth very sore chewing the gum, I think I might go and get a pencil cigarette. (I didn't "park" them in my mouth Tigger. I think it was just the act of chomping away like a cow chewing the cud and I kept biting my tongue.) I would probably only use the pencil cigarette once or twice a day (I didn't have any gum at all today but would have loved a drag on a pencil one (sad git that I am). I just need a little something now and again as I feel I am almost there, and I certainly don't want to ever smoke again. I could easily at the moment but I won't. It's funny but it seems no one smokes any more so I can't have a "sniff" of somebody else's ciggie to see whether it smells nice or horrid.

On the whole though Lizzie, I feel quite proud of myself. I must say that it has been easier than I thought it would, and I have not really been bad tempered   - better ask Piglet about that one!

Well done Lizzie - you've done well to be at the point where a drag makes your stomach churn. We now must support Grock all we can. We'll have to think of some ways to turn her off them! Any ideas anyone?

Thanks for your continued support peeps. It is very much appreciated.

Love, Mrs P

Yep, Alan T doesn't like cigarettes so she can't go and snog him, like the last time, smelling like an ashtray.

I might even let her use my Hugo Boss Deep Red if she's really good. It's not an invitation I splash about lightly.

You keep going Mrs P. It's will power now. The toxins have left your bloodstream and all it is now is willpower. It doesn't matter if you snack a bit more and gain a little weight. You can always shift that another time when you've got this bit sorted out.

Big hugs, keep going
Lots of love

Here is a survival guide of what to say to the lady in your life who has just quit smoking.

DANGEROUS: What's for dinner?
SAFER: Can I help you with dinner? :x
SAFEST: Where would you like to go for dinner? :?
ULTRA SAFE: Here, have some chocolate. :D

DANGEROUS: Are you wearing that?
SAFER: Gee, you look good in brown.
SAFEST: WOW! Look at you!
ULTRA SAFE: Here, have some chocolate.

DANGEROUS: What are you so worked up about?
SAFER: What did I do wrong?
SAFEST: Here's fifty Pounds.
ULTRA SAFE: Here, have some chocolate.

DANGEROUS: Should you be eating that?
SAFER: You know, there are a lot of apples left.
SAFEST: Can I get you a glass of wine with that?
ULTRA SAFE: Here, have some chocolate.

DANGEROUS: What did you do all day?
SAFER: I hope you didn't overdo it today.
SAFEST: I've always loved you in that robe!
ULTRA SAFE: Here, have some more chocolate.

I must say though in support of Mrs P, she has been an absolute joy since giving up, although I have been keeping to the ultra safe comments.

Mr P i can see where i went wrong when my wife was giving up smoking, i was saying all the dangerous lines. No wonder she got slightly touchy.

Kind regards a thoughtless Old Herbaceous.

Have noticed that nobody's 'supported' you for two days Mrs.P and Lizzie....are you OK?
Grock, I know just how you feel, honestly it's a bugger isn't it? Are you trying again?

Ah, but Jude, have you noticed that none of them have been howling for support either, which means they're winning!! I hope.

Come on girls, give us an update on how it's going, and that includes you Grock; it's not too late to quit again. :D

Chantal, know what you mean, but my OH always became suspicious ( and rightly so) when I went quiet and stopped moaning. I really hope that all is OK with them all.

Hello - how are you doing Mrs P, Grock and Lizzie. We're waiting for the update. Most of us are struggling with our weight, but we are happily non smokers.

Anyone for cake?????

Regarding giving up smoking. I hope i am not being too hard on you all, but my feelings are, having given up a 60 a day habit 26 years ago, so i know it is not easy, as is often seen on the rear windows of cars relating to a different subject.
JUST DO IT and cut out all the waffle.

Good Morning everyone, and a Happy Easter to you all.

Right then - who mentioned cake? Well, here we are on day 14 and I must say my first thought is NOT a cigarette. You were right about the gum Tigger, even though I did chew it probably, I ended up with a very sore tongue and a massive ulcer just above my two bottom front teeth. (It didn't stop me eating though - it just took longer!! )

My neighbour told me about the No Smoking Campaign at our local chemist so I went down last Thursday as I felt I just needed a little crutch for the odd time. I had to make an appointment for Saturday morning. That was annoying as I wanted something NOW. I was given the "first" appointment with the pharmacist but found she was with someone when I got there. Then after 20 minutes' wait, I was handed several questionnaires to fill in. The Pharmacist became free and because I was still filling in my form dealt with someone else! Honest peeps - you don't need this aggro when you're trying so hard.

Anyway, I came out with what I wanted and that was Grock's "favourite little stick"; the Nicorette pen. It's great - I can now smoke in shops, restaurants and even in the house!

No, really I felt that by the time I got to the Pharmacy, I felt 90% "there". The cravings were getting fewer and lasting only a minute or two. I can't believe it has been so much easier than I had anticipated. I only had a couple of "puffs" of the pen and it really is quite nasty, but it does the trick. I am positive I won't get reliant on them and cannot envisage using up even one capsule a day.

I do feel very proud of myself. Other people's ciggies are finally beginning to smell horrible, and my daughter Sarah's clothes stank awful after she had been out on Friday night. Thankfully she has never smoked.

So, all in all - doing very well. Thank you so much everybody for your support - I can't tell you how much it has meant to me. I do check in to the KG forum every day, but as you can see - I suffer from keyboard diarrhoea and seem incapable of writing just one or two lines like everyone else. So I will sign off now.

Looking forward to hearing from Lizzie and Grock on how they are doing.

Love, Mrs P

Well done! That is brilliant news, I was starting to get worried about you all. :D

You deserve lots of Easter eggs for that I think; where's that Piglet?
