Well i like to keep my eye on people.

I'll have to be careful next time I go down the garden after a frost, I've got a bed of Blue Solaise - and excellent they are too, good flavour and very hardy.

Old Codger i keep missing you over the allotment so, what have you planted in that double row on your No 1 plot? I would hate to think you are getting in front of me.

We had absolute monsoon wind/rain at 9am...but this afternoon blue sky..so have been out and cut some jolly Holly to take to work....sort of Coals to Newcastle
Have had a tidy of the yellow leaves from the Brussels Sprouts, run the hoe around the Raspberry canes and shallow dug in between their rows...
Pruned a few bits from Bountiful and Queen Apples....

....and now retreated indoors to run up my old standby computer..bringing it up to date a bit....and frightening the spiders hiding within

Well i've been potting up the last 300 tulips and narcissi, between popping on here, been quite pleasant in the greenhoue.

Hello OH i have only planted another two rows of garlic,did you cut your lettuce from my plot,if not you had hurry before they have all gone. Not bad cutting lettuce outside in December.

Morning Codger, that's alright then if it's only garlic, i thought you had sneeked some new crop in.

Yes i did take a lettuce thank-you, and very nice it was too.

But of course, if you are insisting i have another, it would be very rude of me to refuse.

Hello everyone,

I'm back from 3 weeks holiday and raring to get back in the garden, unfortunately I'm on crutches as I tore the ligaments in my knee crossing a river. Don't tell anyone, but I've just managed to hop down to the greenhouse to see what has happened to my plants and most things look fine, so I can sit and look through the seed catalogues without worrying now.

Hope your knee soon repairs, and i think you must think about these adventure holidays you go on next year.

Thanks for the good wishes, I thought after the accident I ought to start being more sedate. Unfortunately I like trecking through jungles and doing exciting things, so I suppose I'm more likely to have accidents than if I stayed at home. I had gone to stay with my son in his new home and after my adventurous first week, I had to spend the next two lying on a swing seat in his tropical garden, eating luscious ripe fruit and watching the birds and butterflies in 28 - 30 degrees temperatures. Apart from being in agony when I moved it was rather enjoyable.

I should also say that the Thai hospital was very impressive. I was terrified what was in store for me when I went, but I was lifted onto a trolley at the entrance, wheeled in to see a nurse who took my details, then checked out by a doctor and sent for an X-ray, back to the doctor, nothing was broken so he gave me a shot of morphine, re-took my B.P., bandaged my leg, prescribed a bag full of assorted painkillers and ointments, and I was back out again in 40 minutes, and all for £8.

The trip home took 32 hours from leaving his house, a car ride, mini bus (in a torrential storm, doing 60 mph+ and the one windscreen wiper kept falling off, and managing to avoid some of the cows which graze down the central reservation of the dual carriageway and like to lie down in the fast lane!), then three planes with efficient wheelchair assistance all the way to Manchester (where it was a complete shambles) and a car journey home.

Saving up for my next trip, but thinking about my air-miles I'd better wait a while - next winter perhaps.
