For OH seems to be a while since anyone posted ideas for your North Wales visit.
My tip would be to stay in a place called Bedd Gellert in the Snowdonian range. It is in a nice area for plenty of walking, Snowdonia is not the only walk in the ranges!!!! It has a couple of nice olde style country pubs.
Alan maybe able to tell you the story behind the name of the Village, its quite a sad one, involving Llewelyn, his child and his favourite hunting dog.
If he decides not to tell the story i may furnish you the details...

Here's the "story".
Total 19th century fabrication to attract the tourists; as is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
Beddgelert is just named as the place where an unidentified man called Celert was buried. Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (longest place name in the UK - doesn't half bring in the coach trips to the Pringle shop!!) is originally just Llanfairpwllgwyngyll = St Mary's church in the white hazel hollow - still long enough - locally called just Llanfairpwll or Llanfair.
Break your dreams? Come to Alan
