Well believe it or not we are still picking grapes off our vine the leaves had been green till now and are just yellowing this week, so many grapes I am sharing with my neighbour, the cape gooseberries are still producing too, and my runner beans are still green, I have saved some seed of moonlight will see next year if they come true from seed, the soil has produced some beautiful large seeds of Moonlight and the Wisley Magic. We had one almost frost a couple of weeks ago it caught the top of my achocha's they are still fruiting too.

Looks like we'll be picking Dahlias and Runner Beans in November. Did remove the outdoor Tomatoes last week, might have got one or two more but wanted to replace them with Strawberries.

Hi Clive,
According to the Weather Forecast last evening the rain that we are to have on Tuesday is the tail end of the weather that deposited the snow in US and Canada. It will have warmed as it comes across the Atlantic Ocean and it will not turn to snow here.
Knowing what happens in theory is one thing but lets hope that the thoery is proven and the weather does warm up!

Not sure where the extra hour of daylight we gained in the morning, has gone.

We have been sorting the Geraniums today...trim down, sort into alphabetical order, pack into one greenhouse section and take cuttings for security.

Now we can get to and see a pretty mighty thorny task for another rainy day......... .

Anyone spotted the Tortoiseshell Butterfly in the new magazine that has got so much make-up on you could call it a Painted Lady?

Haven't got the new magazine yet, so can't comment, but today (a lovely sunny late autumn day) we had a fresh looking comma, a rather tatty small tortoiseshell and a silver-y moth in the garden. I think that's the first time we have seen a comma in November!

Just seen the painted lady in the magazine, Geoff. Strangely, it's a mistake which is often made by people who are not quite familiar with butterflies!

Another lovely day today with two small tortoiseshell out and bats at night. One of our offspring just phoned to say they are having a barbecue tonight and are standing outside in shirtsleeves - in November in North Yorkshire! Whatever next?

Maybe a black panther spotted in the hills.

I love this forum too, it's not very often i visit the forum without there being something on it to make me smile, and long may it last.

What did you put on it? Butter and marmalade, or just some Marmite?

Our two dogs will fight over black toast. Wee dog does not really want it but bcause collie started on it, she grabbed it and then had to eat it.

Glorious day here and have been picking lunch. A few large runner beans that had hidden, a lot of New Zealand spinach, a couple of broccoli spears and a handful of sprouts which were threatening to "blow".. Enough for myself and the dogs..

Amazed at it all in this the first year so far south.
