Garlic this year was the best ever, both normal size and the elephant. I planted in October, around 3 inches deep and watered extremely well from March-May and then lifted them in mid June.

Same here - marvellous crop with Solent Wight, huge bulbs and none have bolted. They were planted in October.
Leeks, too, are growing fine now (during the very spell early summer I thought they were never going to come to anything) and we are starting to use them, although the Musselburgh will stand until next spring.
