Cucumber Plants browning at edge

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

Hi, not really a newbie, but am perplexed by my cucumber plants which are browning at the edges - not all the leaves are affected - they are in the greenhouse, and i am keeping them well watered - anyone got any ideas or reasons as to why this might be happening - have grown cucumbers for years and never had this problem :?

I wonder if it is anything to do with over watering. I have an aubergine that I bought from a garden centre and I have been keeping it well watered over this very hot and sunny period. Now my aubergine leaves are going limp and yellow and I really don't know why. Any ideas!!

Hello Julie
Although you've kept your plant well watered cucs do also need to be surrounded by a moist atmosphere. Perhaps the air has become too dry and the leaves have got scorched in the bright sunlight. Try a fine spray over the foliage several times a day in very hot dry weather.

Hello Catherine
If a well watered plant goes limp it is almost always because the roots have become damaged. This could be due to over-watering. I would suggest no more watering until the soil becomes drier and and then the plant can be given a good watering - carry on like this. Be prepared for the worst though, plants with damaged roots will struggle to recover. I'd be inclined to get another plant from the GC while they're still available - just in case.

Hope this helps

Hi Cath and John - will stop watering so much - and will definitely spray leaves with water as well - thanks for your tips - just not used to all this hot weather so early in the year. :)
