My thoughts on Kevin's #1 question
In my humble opinion the forum is becoming to predictable and sterile its turning into a paper tiger looks impressive but it lacks the bite that it once had
The forum has just been through a stage of people complaining that topics were too serious - and too direct and personal (and wrists were duly slapped by head-office, leading to a reluctance to engage in anything serious).
Now, as Kevin quite rightly comments, it's gone to the opposite extreme. Most threads have little meat in them and come and go in a few days.
People used their unhappiness with the "serious" threads as an explanation (excuse?) for why they were not using the forum. Now we see suggestions that the current blandness and lack of activity are driving them away.
To my mind there is a simple solution: it's your Forum; what is needed in discussions is your input; it's up to you to visit the forum; it's up to you to contribute. Looking on from the sidelines and then saying what you think is wrong is not that productive.
NB The your and you were addressed to one and all, not to any individual.

Well said Alan, I couldn't agree more.
I've not been posting much lately, but for no other reason than I've had too much work on and not enough hours in the day.
As a moderator I'm supposed to read all the postings and that can be pretty heavy going sometimes.

Morning Alan, it always seems to go a little quieter on the forum when we are out of the main growing season, especially regarding new members.
Although some people probably have a little more time, i suppose not everyone wants to just come on the forum just for a social chat.
Although looking back through the years of topics, we do seem to have more replies to each question these days, so maybe things are not all that bad.
What are your thoughts on the matter?
