I see that in our town there is going to be a seedling swop on Sunday. I'm thinking of popping down. I don't have much to swop as I'm still quite new to this, and my seedling are my babies! I might take a few flower seedlings which are spare.
Has anyone else been to these before? Are they any good?

So far I've put aside, 1 tomato, 1 cucumber , 1 marrow & 6 aquilegias.I hope everyone else has a bit more than me.
I'll watch out for Seedling and see what she goes for.
Its organised by a local Sustainability group. Last autumn they made apple juice from anyones spare garden apples. If you gave any apples you got a free bottle. It was lovely. Later this year there are going to "abundance swops", for any produce, jams etc.
I hope they do well as its all good ideas.
I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm all for this kind of initiative although sadly I'm not aware of any seedling swaps taking place near us.
I usually tend to grow just a few extra seedlings to allow for germination failures, but after once giving away all my surplus vegetable seedlings and then had my own severely damaged by an unexpected frost, leaving me short, I now tend to hang onto them until I'm certain I'll have no more accidents. By that time everybody else has normally seemed to acquire what plants they need. I have however, just managed to unload a tray of surplus celeriac seedlings to a neighbour so they won't be wasted.

Just back from Swop. Very nice afternoon. Lots of people & families popping in.
I was pleased to see my seedlings taken up very quickly. I'm happy with what I came away with, some red onions, a box bush, some evening primroses & a few other things.
There was a "compost champion" there, a gardener to ask questions.
I hope they have lots of success.
