If you have got any Parsnips left in the ground dig them up today, cut the top 1" off and replant. They will grow again like the tops of Pineapples, much more reliable than growing from seed.

Geoff - does that trick work with anything else. I've got a few salisfy plants left from the winter and was going to leave them to flower as they are quite pretty. However, if I can get another crop - they've had it.

Hi Sue,
Certainly you can save Salsify as it is a perennial plant but the root will be quite hoary the second and subsequent years and inedible so it will be only as a flower. What I do not know is if you get root division so if you do decide to keep them perhaps you could publish your findings.

Regret I doubt it works for anything it was an April Fool.
Rather like the weather. Too wet underfoot to do anything so walked the dog along the roads and caught a hailstorm. Mind I did find this clump of Primroses.
Will members in the South please stop the rain making ceremonies we have had enough!

Me too ! The OH went a bit mad at the allotment and dug the salsify up before I noticed, so no flowers either.
