Cornwall

We have just had a lovely five day holiday in Cornwall and judging by the turn in the weather, we chose the right week to go! We had smashing weather and the only rain occurred at night!
I've never been to Cornwall before and we got about a bit as it was a coach holiday. I was particularly taken with Polperro.

Do I remember someone on here experiencing some rude people in Cornwall? (or am I imagining it?! )

Everyone was lovely apart from a male toilet cleaner in Falmouth,a right "Jobsworth" if ever I met one!

Despite there being several other ladies already in there, this...this..this... fool wouldn't allow myself and another lady off our coach, in, as he had to clean the loos! No amount of entreating worked. "If I let you in, I'll have to let everyone else in". he said,(with much indignation)
There wasn't any other women there!
He did direct us to another public toilet, five minutes away, so that was alright then....not.
Apart from that minor episode, we loved Cornwall and will certainly go again.

Dear Elaine, the rude people experience that you so speak of was in Devon.

Glad you had a great time and that the weather was kind to you.
I love Cornwall.

Regarding the toilet cleaner, you should have asked to borrow his bucket, he might have changed his mind about not allowing you in.

Forgot to say, is was poor Elle's garden and her family that got the cold shoulder in Devon.

Thank you OH, it was us indeed. We had a much warmer welcome last week in Derbyshire as I wrote on the bits and bobs thread.

I am glad you had a great week Elaine, I had a friend also in Cornwall last week who told me it was warm enough for her to go boogie boarding 3 times ! Rather her than me

We stayed in Newquay and our hotel was opposite Tolcarno beach, a mecca for surfers.....hundreds of them in the sea as soon as it was light and right up until dusk! Not my idea of fun, I have to confess....I get seasick in the bath!
Cornwall is beautiful.

OH...I was so incensed at the toilet cleaners attitude, all smart replies went out of the window.......which was where I wanted to put him, with his mop somewhere very uncomfortable!

This has happened to me a couple of times (although not in Cornwall), so I just walked in and used the Gents. When a girl's got to go...

I recall going to a Springsteen concert in at Sheffield Wednesday FC where there was two toilets for the ladies and around two hundred toilets for the men. My friend and I led the revolution and took over a men's toilets out of necessity. If we'd stayed in the queue the second half of the concert would have been over before we got back!

This regularly happens in France - they pop up a sign saying to use the gents (or ladies if they are cleaning the men's).

One time it happened to me the washbasins were right next to the urinals which was a bit awkward!!!

Writing of lavatorial matters: when we went to the loo in a French restaurant once, the way to the Ladies was through the Gents and you actually had to sort off squeeze past the peeing gents! My OH refused to "go".
