I'm putting on my

Image

and imagining a better year to come (in the gardens, at least).

It may be cold now, but spring will be warm and sunny with just the right number of showers.

The plums and damsons will be covered in blossom and give a huge crop.

All my hen and duck eggs will hatch and less than half will be cocks or drakes.

June, July and August will be hot and sunny, tomatoes will ripen early and there will be no blight.

There will be more than the one ladybird we saw this year.

There will be an Indian summer lasting into early November.

Now, who's going to spoil my dreams?

I share your optimism Alan, I will get more than one aubergine in 2009.

Happy New Year everyone from an ice crystal covered Yorkshire. Even the spider webs are strung like sparkling necklaces today and the Silverbirch is beautiful.

HNY from me too, I'm hoping to obtain a pair of Alan's rose coloured spectacles!

I've just picked Tim up from work (he's a restaurant manager for those who don't know) and he is one worn out bunny in need of some new duracells  He says they had a very good night though... :D
