I'm all knitted out :? and am posting them off tomorrow (deadline 22 October) but I'm really quite chuffed with them. I don't even feel like parting with them...

150 hats in the photo, another 10 tonight and a friend has knitted another 25. I think between us we've hit Belinda's number of three weeks ago

How are you guys doing?

Hi Chantal, everyone,

I delivered 232 hats to Innocent on Saturday - bit of a nightmare getting there what with the tube closures, and then there wasn't anybody at the office so I just had to leave them on the reception desk :?

I might do some more later in the year during the dark evenings - ready for next year. Currently I'm attempting to make a full size version of the blackberry-like one for a friend at work. We'll see.

Mine went off on Monday - only managed fifty but they`re really nice! :)
What a good idea to carry on making them for next year! Are we sure they`re going to do it next year?

They've done this for the past few years and I think will carry on but I'm going to email and ask. I'll let you know. :D

I've just mailed my boxful off to them.

Have you noticed the hat-o-meter on their website is now rocketing up?

83,300 yesterday
176,000 this morning and
203,000 this afternoon

I do feel sorry for the postmen

Hi guys

YES they're doing Hats for Smoothies in 2008 so we can keep knitting through those long winter days. :D

I have to admit I knitted (but haven't sown up or bobbled yet) another 20 whilst watching the Rugby and the Grand Prix  I seem to be sadly addicted.

I'll start again then. I got a bit distracted as my 'little' brother went into a major decline. Although he's still in hospital, it looks as though he may have turned a corner this morning, so I may be able to concentrate on the more normal aspects of life again. :)

Thanks OH. I know the inevitable's going to happen eventually, but it did look a bit dire yesterday. I wish I could bottle whatever it is he's made of - I'd be a millionaire!

I have to confess I've not actually stopped knitting them from last year  and have nearly 200 completed already. :D

When it rains and I have nothing else to do, I knock out a few more; they soon add up. May do a few more this evening as it's pouring down here in Rugby.

I have also been making some with a band of that hairy/fluffy wool round the bottom and the last four rows at the top. When sewn up, they look great and it negates the need for a pompom which saves wool and time. I'll take a few photos and post them on here.

They look very pretty, but why do smoothies need hats, wouldn't it be better use of the wool to knit hats for old people to keep the poor dears warm?

I doubt you'd get that many full sized hats knitted; I wouldn't do more than a few as I like to be able to complete the whole thing in less than half an hour. It's not so much of a project and therefore more likely to happen if I can do a few a day.

If I'd knitted my grandmother a hat she'd never have worn it, I can't recall her EVER wearing a woolly hat if I'm honest, although she'd always turn the heating up to an unbearable level
