I know the weather last year proably did not help but most seed stock is grown in bonny Scotland which faired OK I thought weather wise compared to the sodden south
Seems a tad steep to me but curious for your opinions folks.

Cost of seed potatoes

We have just got 2.5K bags of T&M seed potatoes in at work and they are just over £4. I was a bit shocked because you usually see Taylors garden centre bags at 3K for £3.99

Dear Sue, potato seed is £2.99 for 3kg, and that is in the rather up market area where i live.

Dear Sue,
T&M are usually the most expensive company to buy pots from and you are definitley paying for the name. Contact a local allotment soc and see if they have a seed potato ordering scheme. Ours generally has 3kg sacks for about £2.60 or less (depending on variety).

I went for my regular January Sale trip to Riggs at Tomorden this week - 10% off everything plus an extra 5% when you get over £100 - to get early batch of compost, fertilisers, lime etc. Rocket were £2.25 and Maris Bard £2.65 for 3Kgs with a further 15% off that they were pretty good value (shame the Charlotte weren't in stock yet, always seem to arrive later).
We always get our seed potatoes from T&M for two reasons: they have a very good choice, far more than our two more local garden centres, and you buy them by the number of tubers, not weight. I prefer that because I know our rows are exactly 20 tubers long, if you know what I mean, and not either 15 or 25 or whatever one gets in a pack by weight.
This year, none of our local shops seems to sell them singly any more.

Guess what OH - I did have another trip and we nearly missed the plane again. This time a visit to Germany. We flew out last Monday and came back Tuesday pm.
I couldn't get herself shifting Monday morning so we left work late and there were massive traffic problems that day on the M40, so an hour and a half later we had gone about 10 miles. I finally pursuaded the boss lady to try a back route (I used to travel this way every day so know the dodges). We made it to check in with seconds to spare afer amusing passersby at Stanstead by doing a Fast Show running family impersonation through the terminal
Think I'll stay home for a bit now
