Thanks Primrose :D I've just clicked my way through 1,000 grams of rice but I cannot get a higher vocab rating than 45 which is driving me mad. I get to 45 and then I get one wrong which knocks me down again  I'll have another bash later.

Oh bum, I'm addicted. Vocab rating of 47 so far and 2,000 grains of rice. At least I'm learning a few new words.

I've given up at 3570 grains, but I don't understand the word rating - why does it go from 38 (my lowest number ) to 48 (my highest number)? It certainly isn't accumulative - am I missing something or am just stupid?

Get three right and gain one point. Get one wrong and lose one point. Illogical, frustrating and highly addictive.

Thanks - I hadn't worked out the exact scoring but realised it was something like that. Got it up to 50 after about 40 minutes then gave up. It's a great link but don't send it to the Guardian crossword compilers or they'll get even more obscure especially Araucaria.
