Lawn Weedkiller

Has anybody come across a selective lawn weedkiller?
I only seem to be able to find weed and feed and although I want to take weeds out of some of my grass ( I wouldn't really call it lawn) and certainly don't want to feed it!

hi geoff, ive had a neighbour asking the same thing, but have only seen these weed and feed things or kill everything cans on the shelf, we used to use a chemical called mcpa on cereal crops it killed the broad leafed weeds but left the cereal alone, there must be something out there unless its all been banned now..

Richard, you're on GMT instead of BST by the sound of it. Go to your profile and change your time zone to GMT +1 to sort it out. You need to change this every time the clocks change.

hi chantel, funny thing is having shown my post as 3.24 when it should have been about 4.30 its showing your reply as 3.30, are you still on the "wrong" time aswell? if im on the wrong time its been like it since the clocks changed so i think ill just leave it so im ready for when they change back again i thought these machines were sposed to be clever , bye.... oh its 6.20 ish (if the clock on the wall is right)

Hi Geof,

I have recently bought a product called D50 and is described as a selective weedkiller for grassland, lawns Golf courses and sports fields and comes in a 1 Litre container..
Susceptible weeds listed are Ragwort or Buchalan,Creeping thistle, Spear Thistles(Scotch Thistle), Daisy, Soft Rush, Docks, Dandilions, Sorrel, Buttercup, Knapweed, Plantain and Nettles.

It is marketed by a company called Croplink Ltd. I purchased it in Ireland and is also refered to on the container as Croplink D50.

If you are unable to get this particular product any agricultural supplier will advise on a grassland weedkiller.

That might give me a lead Gerry. I've been trying B&Q, Wilko and garden centres; I'll try the local farm supplies shop that is also a garden centre.
While there is a sub-thread of settings, where is the language setting for spell checking posts as mine is using American?

I agree with Paul Verdone is superb..Once a year keeps our lawn reasonably free despite fields (cows/buttercup/nettles/thistle/dandelion/dandelion/dandelion - lots) on 2 sides...

My bottle has lasted 9 years so far:-)

We recently dosed our part of our lawn with liquid Verdone where it was badly overtaken with Clover. It worked very well within about 3 weeks but I missed some patches which I will need to "spot water" again. The instructions say "Only one treatment per annum." Unfortunately I now need to let some time elapse before I can put the lawn cuttings on our compost heap. Somebody I knew treated their lawn and immediately used the trimmings for mulch with pretty disastrous effects so I'm not risking it.
