Can anybody recommend a citrus cultivar, either lemon or orange that will actually produce edible fruit.

It will live outside in the summer and in a frost free greenhouse or a polytunnel in winter.

I've had a Meyer lemon tree in a pot for about seven years. Until now I've always just left it out all winter and it's always survived, though never kept its fruit beyond marble size. This is the first year I've had a polytunnel so I brought it under cover around october and it's now got about five yellow lemons on it, big enough for a gin and tonic, so that would indicate it's v happy being left outside in the summer and brought into an unheated greenhouse/tunnel in the winter.
