Hyacinths

My son brought some Hyacinth bulbs home from school.
we put them in pots in a dark cupboard for a while then took them out and they have flowered beautifully, with a lovely smell.
The flowers are now dying off, what do we do with them now

I was given a load that had gone over by my local garden centre. I planted them in my garden and the come up every year.

Evening kev, as Chantal said, if you plant them in the garden they will come up next year.
Cut the dead flowers off before planting, plant the bulbs about four inches deep, this will mean burying the lower half of the leaves, but this won't matter. And also let the leaves die down naturaly, as this will feed the bulb for next year.

Thanks for the replies, I did wonder about sticking em in the garden but wasn't sure as we are in Aberdeenshire and maybe it is a bit too chilly for them!

You could always leave them in the compost to dry out then plant them again next year. Or do half in the pot and half in the garden and see what happens.
