Hi Everyone,

I've grown burpless tasty green cucumbers this year for the first time, and have picked some lovely samples. But after a day or two of picking they are going soft and are split down the centre when you cut them open.

Have I missed something simple???

Thank's Andrew

Have you been watering the plants or just letting them fend for themselves?

Thanks Garlic_Guy,

I put a black plastic mulch around each plant (old compost bags).

I have been watering at least twice a week, some times three when it got realy hot.

We have piped water on site, so at times I just walk off and leave my hose run (tucked under the mulch), then return when I have given them a good soak.

Because I work 12 hour shifts there where times during the realy hot weather they may have gone about two to three days with out water.

The site is exposed (high on a welsh mountain) and it runs north-south so it is baked it sun all day.

(I think I have answered my own question?)

Thanks Andrew.
