Now the weather is warming up a bit there's a noticeable pong inside at the back of the house. It's a kind of sour smell. I thought it was maybe something to do with the building work we've just had done in the kitchen and the smell would wear off. Mr Stravaig thinks it's the dairy farm not far away. Well, I spent a lot of my childhood on a farm, which had a herd of cows and it never smelt like this. Dungy, yes. But this sour stench, no.

Another thing is we live in a 30mph road, with traffic calming bumps at either end, yet I saw two very large agricultural vehicles hurtling down the road. They could not have been going less than 45mph.

Maybe I'm thinking of ye olden days when it was common for small farms to be run by an extended family. They had a herd of cows, sheep, fields of neeps, and grain, etc, and a couple of tractors.

Whatever is making the smell, if it is them, must be more like some kind of factory. I don't know what I can do about it. I'm not a fan of scented candles or any kind of perfumed thing. This is quite weird because I usually have a much better sense of smell than Mr S, yet he was on abut this 'farmyard' smell long before me. Is there some kind of natural thing that would neutralise the smell?

If we'd been aware of it before I'm not so sure I'd have been so keen to buy this house. I mean a stink is a nuisance isn't it? What would you do?

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure there’s not a sewerage works near you, or they are spreading treated sewerage, on the fields nearby, Stravaig…..as this has the most horrible smell!
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
