I had one of those walking back & forward days. Go to the shed to get something then I spot something else I was also looking for & have to go back again as left the other one! A few more brassica's are showing but still more to come, maybe the staging drops the temp quicker being metal...whatever; they are at least growing & overall Hi/Low is OK & no frost.
2 & 1/2 beds cleared at the front . Could have finished the last ones but decided to do a bit of a cull & thin out the strawberries plants that were getting a bit out of control while in that area. Should finish when next down.

A lovely big Hedgehog in the garden last night….hoping it’s the same one, that had some youngsters, last year!

Sunshine just breaking through here...it had an earlier attempt but the fog/mist won.
-1.5C driving along by the river this morning at 7am.

Helping my dad today, dig out some lawn, add a layer of scalpins and then manhandle some great big lumps of York stone crazy paving into place. Crikey, I’ll sleep well tonight. Go to Dorset for the weekend, they said. It’ll be relaxing, they said.

I headed down the back garden and hand weeded around the raspberries, and loganbery, applied a little growmore and lightly worked it in along the rows.
Then looked at the cold frames that were looking rather sad. One had a huge green alkanet in it.! All sorted and a myriad of littler weeds removed.
The youngest cold frame must be about 45 yrs old and the bigger one..that is getting a fraction delicate..is nearly as old as me....
I sowed a few bits in the smaller one.... In days of old the larger one would be full of lettuce. I did set off to emulate that last year got the seed sown and pricked out and then got busy on other stuff, eventually planting them out in a line in the garden as time had got on...

Glorious day here, cut down my buddleia and continued mowing the lawns, on a lower setting, during the morning. In the afternoon I continued with more light pruning of the apple trees

Nice start down here but got progressively colder, but I had warmed up quite nicely removing spent winter crops out of the tunnel & doing a tidy up in there before moving back to weeding the front beds. The brassica's were still sulking & mostly no shows still, so I re-sowed, but so few in the packet of the club root resistant seeds I have to order some more for 'just in case'.
I managed to get quite a lot done as had near an extra hour down there as the earlier bus is now running to service again. It got pulled when there was some issues with staff availability in winter. Mind I won't get too excited as council is also about to re-start their works not completed so probably buses will be diverted or stopped.
