I'm with you on the avatars. Perhaps we should write a wish list and see if we can get a response. Here's mine:
1. Headers (i.e. News & Articles, Subscribe, Shop) - back to the top where they used to be.
2. Posters' avatars back to the left where they used to be.
3. Tone down the bright white background to something like light green.
4. Increase the density of the text - may not be required when the background isn't so white.
5. Birthdays seems to be coming and going, possibly it simply doesn't display "no birthdays today" like it used to
6. Just realised, signatures are missing like my link to weather data.
Any more?

That's odd as my signature is still showing?

I logged on today on my iPad. It was raining. The light level in our room was so low I could hardly read anything with the current white background and format. Made me feel I was just wasting my time.

I have sent a private message to Kgadmin to see if they can do something about the poor visibility of the pages.

I'm afraid the techies generally seem to live in a different world to the clients for whom they are designing new systems. People generally hate change, snd the older they get the more difficult they find coping with it, often for genuine physical reasons.
If changes are needed for technical security reasons I don't see why they can't start on the basis of "how many things can we keep as the status quo?" before the techies always throw out the baby with the bathwater?
I suppose there are relatively few active forum members now so it, feels like a case of "like it or lump it".

Hi everyone, thanks for all your comments and sorry for my slow reply. The upgrade had to happen as a matter of urgency and we didn't have time to do the best we could have done.
We have now done some tweaks today - text size is now larger throughout the site which should help with readability. Most of the grey text is now black. There is a dark mode! Click the moon icon in the top banner.
Keep sending your feedback and we'll do what we can.
Thanks
Darren

No more tweaks for a few weeks I notice.
Any chance of looking at two regularly occurring comments?
Are links disabled as a security measure or is it just a feature that you didn't get round to enabling? We often post links about suppliers or advice from elsewhere like the RHS or to photo hosting sites like flickr, it would be good to have the function back.
In the latter days of the old format a 'Like' button was introduced and proved popular, it would be good to have that back too.
