Our allotment compost area was built from old galvanised, corrugated panels and hardwood doors. it was sectioned off into 4, and each section we could plonk another door on top to keep the rain off. Our compost was pretty good, lovely and crumbly, not too wet or dry, just right.

Should I try to keep the rain off?
The daleks certainly keep the composting dry a New Zealand bin doesn't.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

With the amount of rain we are having at the moment I would say yes.

I'm sure you're probably right Stephen. I don't know whether you ever actually get worms appearing in a black plastic leaf containing bag and they must surely help to speed up the composting process.
