Some lovely weather for hoeing, amazing what area you can cover in a couple of hours, when the soil is so dry.
Very busy at work and at home at the moment, hence the lack of posts.....
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

No hoeing at my plot today as it rained quite a bit overnight but loads of hand weeding. So satisfying seeing the wee root come out & in the Trug. I thought I had cracked the 'To Do' list but it just grows longer now I have the extra time to really note what is going on! How did I ever get such great crops before? Hope they may be even better but that will be down to them! I will give them what they need but they will decide that ultimately. Fickle wee things & our contribution may or maybe not be what they need or want at a particular time I think?

As for the slugs, they may creep out of water but surely they die in beer?

What worries me about the current batch of MP's is Joe public might say," A Pox on all your Houses" and not bother to go out and vote. On a more serious note. My sweet peas are hardly moving :( :( :(

Just got settled down to fill raised bed when a swarm of bees arrived on neighbours tree other side of the fence.

Went round to the neighbour at the bottom of the garden to tell him as he has couple of bee hives unfortunately he was out.

So had to down tools and put kettle on.

None down south for a while. There is a small possibility today (less than 20% chance) and much the same tomorrow.

We've had 12 hours of rain and it's still precipitating it down, you can have some of ours if you like lol.

It's raining here, well, more like drizzling, but we have had about 3mm during the night which is much appreciated. Sunshine and showers for tomorrow, sounds like good growing weather but a shame for everybody who is looking forward to the bank holiday for a break in weekday trudge ....

Our broad beans are absolutely covered in flowers but I fear for their pollination because there is a distinct lack of insects, even during the last warm and sunny days: a few honey bees, bumble bees (especially tree bumble bees which are 'nesting' in a bird box on the house) but little else. In butterflies, we saw some overwintered small tortoiseshell and peacock earlier, then a FEW orange tips, green-veined white and large and small white, but that's it.
