I seem to be having difficulty in growing spouting broccoli, can grow normal broccoli (calabrese) ok.
I suspect they need to be over wintered, any suggestions on type and how to get a long seasons worth would be appreciated.

Hi Geoff,
I am not quite sure what exactly is the problem. They need to be sown early to mid summer, I.e now! plant out when you have about five leaves and firm in well. Stake as they grow and cover with netting to protect. Watch out for caterpillars! Mine have just gone out.
They will overwinter and crop in spring.
Hope this helps

I grew summer sprouting a couple of years ago. It didn't do anything until much later in the year and then had weeny little heads, which were fine in stir fries, but not like the winter PSB for flavour.
