Never mind the produce, I won first place for irony. :) No cup or card awarded though

Beginning of season a fellow plotholder had issues with getting courgettes to grow.
I gave him 2 plants. As the season progressed it became obvious they were a yellow round variety, neither aspect of which he liked or normally grew.
Just for the sheer hell of it he entered them in the 3 x Courgettes class yesterday and took card for 1st place. I had none to enter.

Another plothoder was showing for first time and on Friday asked my advice on which Potatoes, Butternut Squash, Carrots and Beetroot they should enter.
They were better placed than I and won cards on all four classes.

My results. Gardening Classes
6 x Runner Bean Unplaced
6 x French Bean Unplaced
4 x Beetroot Third
4 x Onions under 8oz Unplaced
4 x Onions over 8oz Second (out of two entries)
4 x Potatoes Unplaced
Single pumpkin or squash Unplaced
Matched pair First (entered matching pair Sweetcorn)
4 kinds of vegetable Unplaced

Craft Classes
Strawberry jam Unplaced (Forgot I wasn't going to enter it, put too much sugar in)
Marmalade First

Photographic section
A Moving Subject First
A Seasonal Scene First
A Landscape Unplaced (A seascape won)
Building(s) Second

The results reflect my lack of energy and enthusiasm on the plot this season

I've never entered a show and living in a tiny village with only half a dozen "gardeners", doubt I ever will.
Been gardening for over 65 years and still learning.

You could always organise one and enter the 'irony' class by being unplaced

Well Pa, you still produced stuff which puts you way out front of those who go and do all their vegetable purchases at Sainsbury's !

Wow congrats Pa!

That's not bad at all - 4 firsts, 2 seconds & a third! Well done.
