My guttering is actually working, much to my amazement.

I was doing some digging when the heavens opened and hail came down. I ran for cover and sheltered in my shed. Through the window, I could see the edge of the roof and the guttering beneath. And guess what? Water was dripping quite merrily from the edge of the shed into the gutter and thence into to the water barrel beyond. I know I doubted prevviously whether this would work or not, but the slow fall of rain from above made it possible for the water to trickle down rather than cascade off the edge. So I am finally happy.
