Just had an enjoyable weekend away in North Devon, well ok it was damn wet and very windy at times. Did struggle to stay on our feet at times.

Decided to go pay RHS Rosemoor gardens a visit and having done so we decided we prefer Rosemoor to Wisley, which is about 30 minutes away from us,
Shame Rosemoor is so far away, thought it better than Harlow Carr as well.

We were lucky during our visit, the rain held off and wind abated slightly as well The unlucky bit was that Rosemoor apparently has a reputation for serving good food, therefore when we wanted to eat the queue for the restaurant was out of the door.

The danger when people start to believe their own publicity is that they often fall off their own ego.

Interesting sign about leek moth, seems to conflict with what Wisley have said in a written reply to a colleague of mine.

Wisley's reply says that the problem was first found in 2003 in the Wolverhampton area and has since moved south

I agree Rosemoor is a wonderful place. Only been to Wisley once and it didn't inspire me somehow, difficult to say quite why. Perhaps I go to Harlow Carr too often but I don't think it is as good as it was, perhaps the new developments have got to bed in a bit. I know getting families and children involved is important but the balance doesn't seem quite right.

Thanks Mr Snip for the effort and interest to take photos and give us a spoken guide, I hope to make some of these lovely places though something always gets in the way.

Lovely photos.
How are you supposed to start and maintain a healthy lifestyle if it completely removes a wine lover’s reason to live?
