Great day today - 40mm rain which should have got to the roots of plants! Our copious watering has produced an enormous yield of peas and broad beans, but most other things have struggled in the dry weather, especially dwarf beans, runner beans, all root vegetables and sweet peas, so waking up this morning to the sound of pouring rain was lovely!
And as a bonus, tonight's sunset has just been wonderful, the setting sun even turning the clouds pink in the east.
Rain at last!

now wait for the comments about root crops splitting
The danger when people start to believe their own publicity is that they often fall off their own ego.
At least travelling under the guise of the Pa Snip Enterprise gives me an excuse for appearing to be on another planet
And my Cherry tomatoes Pa Snip. Not complaining tho'. They go in the soup pot.

Speaking of cherry tomatoes: we have a large crop but they very, very reluctant to turn red this year!
And on the rain front: I pulled out the remaining broad bean stumps today, having left them in the ground for about 4 weeks for the nitrogen nodules to dissolve, and even after Friday's deluge, the ground was powder dry again.

Mmmm wonder why Monika my Cherola are doing very well.

Our rain has been very thoughtful and considerate the last 6 days: sunshine or at least completely dry during the day and rain every evening - couldn't be better. And it's certainly making a difference, the runner beans and dwarf beans are at last making great progress and the carrots are filling out.
